The owner's plumber, Mr. Michael Gilleran, has determined the extent of the existing sewage disposal system; 4 absorption laterals, each approximately 30 feet in length and 10 feet away from the existing structure. Same are in general area previously identified on the 40 scale survey. 3. That area outside the direct line of drainage to lot 24, which drains toward Van Ross, is of excessive slope and contains indications of adverse subsurface conditions related to rock. Further interpretation of the local drainage pattern, based upon field measurement, is also provided. Same is discussed in a letter 'from Mr. Gilleran and indicated on a copy of the Owners of the records and files of Hudson Valley Engineering Company, Inc., Reynolds and Chase, J. Wilbur Irish, Vincent Burruano and Douglas A. Merritt Affiliated with Taconic Surveying and Engineering; P.C. April 2, 1992 _ _ Page 2 - previously submitted survey (copies attached). Being personally acquainted with Mr. Gilleran and his work as a licensed.plumber, I have no reason to doubt his competence and integrity; his determinations and, assessments have always been, in my experience and opinion, rational, reasonable and based in practical reality. Additionally, visual inspection of the soil proximate to the existing disposal system would lead one to anticipate a sufficiently slow percolation rate which would afford a comfortable level of . protection against contamination of surrounding wells. Same might also be, evidenced by satisfactory bacteriological analysis of the Giberson's well water considering their well is no less than 25 feet, and downhill, from a neighboring septic system. We ask that you evaluate all of the above and the attached and consider some additional benefit which might be gained by proposing the addition somewhat closer to the front of the parcel. Current consideration is the proposal of a simple system expansion to accommodate the proposed increase in bedroom count; with or without variance request(s). Thank you for your consideration and, as always, should you require additional information feel free to contact us. Yours truly, BADEY & WATSON Surveying &Engineering, P.C. by John P. Delano, P.E. Dear John, After consulting with you on the phone,l went to the 8iberson property to take some grade shots. I marked the shots on your drawing, showing the drainage flow. The flow of the water as shown on this drawing, shows the water path flowing in One direction of the neighbors property, which is the Norhadian property. Actually' as the grade shots I took indicate, the flow of the water goes along the stone wall separating the two property's, at a 10% grade heading towards!' the street (Lookout Pass). The grade slopes9ft. in 90ft. towards the road. At a point 93ft. back from Lookout Pass along bearing line N81'-00"-W, the property slopes towards lot 12 for 110ft. lot owned by Janet Vanross. On the other side of the wall, between Giberson and Norladian, before reaching NorhadianTs well, there is a gar ge, th en a s t one masonary re tai n ing wall runn i ng from the garage to the street with a black topped driveway, pitched from the garage to the street. The location of the existing fields are as shownApn your drawing, however I see 4 sets of fields approx. 30ft. . in length. These fields measure 101ft. off the existing strutture. The fields'and the whole system seem to be! functioning well under the present load usage. I think it `-_---'_-_'--_'_ -- _ the usage of the present system,,and add to it with 168 ft. / of new fields for the additional pro, osedbedroom. This would save the room on the existing site and allow more room for . future expansion if needed. According to the State Code Handbook Appendix 75-A page ,6, table 2, entitled " Separation distances " absorption fields should be 10' ft. away from the well location. In this case note (a) does hot apply because of the nature of the soil, and "the general path " of the drainage to the well. , The property uphill of the Giberson ' ' s' adacent to their well, the septic system of lot 28 terminates and is Oil 25 ft. of the Giberson's deep well. Evidently " dra 'd n " has no/effect in this case. . Thanks for your consideration and help:in t ,``, ' ' . . `r Mike Gilleran March 5, 1992.,-.
